When should I see a podiatrist?

 

  • When I have sharp pain in my heel, especially in the morning or after activity...
  • When I feel a hard lump on the bottom of my foot that is painful or burns...
  • When I have burning, numb, or tingling feet...
  • When I see a hard corn or callus on my foot or toes that is painful...
  • When my nails become thick, crumbly, discolored yellow or black, or they fall off...
  • When I have a painful ingrown or hang nail, or one that became infected...
  • When I begin to develop pain in my bunion or big toe joint...
  • When my feet or ankles become red, hot, and swollen...
  • When I twist my ankle and it is not better in a few days...
  • When I have stubbed my foot or toe and it still hurts...
  • When I see an itchy rash on the soles of the feet or in between my toes...
  • When I sprain my ankle and it still hurts to walk on...
  • When I see a wart or hard spot on the bottom of my feet...
  • When the top of my foot hurts or burns in shoes...
  • When my feet blister, burn, and itch...
  • When I see a sore or wound on my feet...
  • When my feet turn inward or outward when I walk...

When should you call a Podiatrist?

  • You have persistent pain in your feet or ankles.
  • You see noticeable changes to your nails or skin.
  • Your feet are severely cracking, scaling, or peeling.
  • There are blisters on your feet.
  • Your toenail is getting thicker and causing you discomfort.
  • You have heel pain accompanied by a fever, redness or numbness and tingling in your heel.
  • You have diabetes or certain other diseases that affect your feet
