This time of year many of us are bundling up and braving the cold. Most of us have already needed our winter socks and boots at least once so far this season. From winter sports enthusiasts, to hunters, to holiday shoppers, everyone needs to ensure their feet are properly prepared for the cold. A wise investment for you and your family is a set of quality winter boots and socks. For those of us that undertake activities or employment that requires prolonged exposure to cold more advanced measure may need to be taken. Stocking up on toe warmers or even battery powered heated insoles may be a smart move for those people.
Most of the time cold feet can be remedied by bundling up, good socks, correct footwear, and keeping our feet dry. If these simple fixes do not resolve your symptoms please do not ignore it. Many patients mention to me that their feet are always cold, no matter what they do. This can be a sign of more serious underlying medication conditions such as circulation problems. At Advanced Podiatry we have equipment on-site to perform the most current diagnostic screening test designed to evaluate your circulation. The test is called Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) and is a quick, painless, non-invasive way to determine if your circulation is normal.
Please make an effort to bundle up those feet and if you’re having concerns regarding the cold don’t hesitate to stop by. Enjoy this wonderful time of year!
