Need Foot Surgery? Here is what to expect

Are you considering foot surgery? Here is what to expect.

 --Prior to Surgery--

On your initial consultation, one of our physicians will obtain an in-depth history, detailed examination, X-Ray evaluation and will go over your procedure in detail. He or she will review what to expect before the surgery, the day of surgery, and your after-care. You will receive a packet with information about foot surgery as well as the surgery center and our team.

One of our Doctors and a surgical coordinator will help you pick a date for your procedure and then guide you through the process of obtaining clearance and getting prepared.

Prior to surgery, you will have a final consultation to review everything in detail, discuss expectations, sign consents, get your post-surgical Shoe or boot, and pick up a shower guard to keep your foot dry. On this visit, you will also receive your post-operative prescriptions.

 --The day of Surgery--

You will arrive at the surgery center approximately 1 hour prior to your scheduled time. You will get changed and meet with the nurses and anesthesiologist. After this, your surgeon will meet with you and review and confirm your planned procedure in detail. Any final questions you may have can be asked at this time.

One of our nurses will then escort you back into the operating room where you will lay down on the table, Local Anesthesia is administered and the procedure can then begin.

Once everything is done you will wake up and be brought into the post-operative recovery area where our team will make sure you are comfortable. From there, once you are ready you will get dressed and be escorted out.

 --Postoperative recovery--

Our office and surgery center will contact you the day after your surgery to check to ensure you are comfortable. You will be seen by your surgeon one week after your procedure for a dressing change, X-ray, and evaluation. About 10 to 14 days out your surgeon will remove any sutures. Our Surgeons are available to you at all times prior. If you have an issue you can always call and our team will address it for you.
