Dr. Peter F. Taormino was born in the Bronx, New York where his grandparents and parents settled. Like so many families their migration to the countryside known as Long Island began for them in 1958. His family moved to Deer Park where his parents and their family enjoyed the lifestyle then offered by living in the suburbs in the 60’s. His parents became involved in ownership of a deli and then a local restaurant that soon became Matty T’s Nashville USA, destined to become a iconic spot for Long Island’s country music scene. It was here that Dr. Taormino learned his work ethic growing up and around both businesses and later helping his mother run the bar after his father passed away. It was also here that Dr. Taormino met his wife Kimberly who is an integral part of his practice and his office manager today.
Starting the practice in 1982 in Lake Ronkonkoma Dr. Taormino and Kim soon became a valued part of the community and settled in the area for several years as they raised their three children. Starting a new practice was tedious in the early years and with the help of the Nursing Sisters of Patchogue Dr. Taormino picked up extra work by doing house calls. He would find himself many times traveling to the Shirley and Mastic Beach area. He soon became aware of a dire need for podiatric care in this area and with some prodding from his wife they opened the first podiatric medical office in that area in 1984. With two growing practices and three small children life became very challenging yet satisfying.
Today it is not unusal for a patient to come into either one of our offices with one of their children and tell their child how they had first been a patient when they were their child’s age. Many of our senior citizens were once just beginning their own families and have seen our practices grow. Dr. Peter F. Taormino received his undergraduate degree at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1976. He received his doctoral degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1981. He completed a one year residency in 1982. He received Board certification by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine in 1989.
Dr. Peter F. Taormino is active in post graduate education and is on staff at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, New York.
